Silverman & Light provided electrical engineering services for the design and implementation of a new 225-kW cogeneration system at Kaiser’s South Sacramento Medical Center, a 217-bed facility. The system was added to the existing Central Utility Plant (CUP), providing electricity to the medical center, as well as recovered heat, supplementing the CUP’s boilers and reducing their need. The project reduced the facilities carbon emissions by 37% as a result of the innovative design and implementation of the new system.
