The award winning $1.3 billion state-of-the-art Van Ness & Geary Hospital Campus includes 990,000 SF of acute care across consisting of 274 beds across 12-stories. Located in the dense urban Lower Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, the hospital features several areas of specialty care such as pediatric emergency care, organ transplant services, birthing center, cardiovascular care, as well as a gastroenterology department.
As part of the collaborative Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) Team, Silverman & Light provided electrical engineering and lighting design for the new hospital. One of the key design features is the hospital’s unique 12kV primary selective radial electrical distribution system pioneered by Silverman & Light that utilizes three medium voltage 3-megwatt paralleled emergency diesel generators.
