UCSF BAKAR PRECISION CANCER MEDICINE BUILDING (PCMB)INFO

Silverman & Light provided electrical engineering and lighting design for the new specialty Bakar Precision Cancer Medicine Building on the UCSF Mission Bay campus. The 180,000 SF SMOB was delivered using an integrated design-build delivery method where all architects, engineers, and contractors co-located together at the Integrated Center for Design and Construction (ICDC) where the entire team worked side-by-side in the Big Room.

This building consolidates UCSF’s current solid tumor practices, integrating research and clinical care and encouraging collaboration between researchers and medical teams. In addition to clinic space for most cancers, PCMB will house chemotherapy infusion, radiology, pathology, radiation oncology, blood draw, a patient resource center, and support services.

The clinic building that is partially OSHPD-3 licensed, included an OSHPD-1 design package for the building’s MEP integration into the existing Hospital Central Utility Plant.
